EHR Application Specialist Objective
The objective of the EHR Application Specialist is to design, develop, test EHR templates and documents within the NextGen Knowledgebase Model.
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Technical Responsibilities
- Needs an understanding relational database design and writing optimized SQL queries, triggers and stored procedures
- Design and develop reports using applications such as Crystal Reports and/or SQL reporting services
- Develops test and document reports using standard SQL based query and/or reporting tools
- Review and understand project requirements and specifications
- Demonstrate good programming and design skills
- Conform to design specifications requirements
- Test, debug, and add enhancements to existing applications as directed
- Provide technical documentation on new designs and enhancements
- Fix complex template, application, and workflow issues
Project Management Responsibilities
- Assist in the development of project plans by providing accurate development estimates
- Participate in team meetings as needed
- Work in a collaborative environment on development projects
- Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed
- Document programming problems and resolutions for future reference
Soft Skills
- Good documentation, unit-testing, and debugging practices
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational, time management, analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to work independently and function as an integral part of the team
- Ability to use native template and document development applications
- Maintains a positive attitude
- High level of initiative, self-direction, and accountability for actions required
- The candidate should be self-motivated and self-directed
- Ability to work constructively with a wide variety of projects and changing business priorities and timelines
Technical Skills
- Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience required
- A minimum of 3 years of professional software development experience

- NextGen Certified Professional (NCP)
- Medical background and knowledge of medical terminology
